Chata Bergen

Welcome to the Forest

The Surroundings

Forest trails, the gentle sound of a mountain stream, the scent of wood and the kind of peace that's becoming increasingly difficult to find. That's what makes Chata Bergen truly special. If you're looking to slow down, switch off your phone for a while and spend quality time with family or friends, you've come to the right place.

Wake up to birdsong, spend your days exploring the spectacular High Tatras, and return in the evening to relax in the garden. Read a book in the hammock beneath the linden trees, enjoy a barbecue with your loved ones, or simply unwind with a glass of wine while listening to the peaceful sounds of the surrounding forest and the nearby stream.

If you'd like to treat yourself, the nearest restaurant is just a pleasant 10-minute walk away, and several nearby hotels offer wellness facilities that are open to external guests.

We genuinely want you to enjoy every moment of your stay. That's why we're happy to share some of our favourite hiking trails, attractions, cafés and restaurants. Below you'll find our recommended places to visit, but if you'd like to discover some of the Tatras' hidden gems, we'd be delighted to give you personal recommendations during your stay.

Although the first part of the hike is relatively unremarkable, the scenery becomes increasingly spectacular as you gain elevation. The summit rewards you with one of the most breathtaking panoramic views in the High Tatras. Please note: There are no mountain huts or refreshment stops along the route, so be sure to bring enough food and water for the entire hike.

Veľké Hincovo pleso

hinco

The largest and deepest mountain lake in Slovakia lies in the beautiful Mengusovská Valley. You can begin your hike either at Popradské Pleso or Štrbské Pleso. Most hikers leave the trail towards Rysy at Žabí Potok junction, making the final section much quieter.

The trail climbs through the peaceful Javorová Valley, crosses Kopské Saddle with magnificent panoramic views, and descends past Veľké Biele Lake and Green Lake Chalet back to Biela Voda. Compared to the more famous routes, this hike is considerably quieter while offering some of the most beautiful scenery in the Tatras.

Rysy

bob6096

One of the most spectacular alpine hikes in the High Tatras leads through the wild Bielovodská Valley to Poľský Hrebeň Pass (2,200 m), where you'll be rewarded with breathtaking views of Gerlachovský Peak, Velická Valley and the surrounding mountain ranges. The descent continues past Velické Pleso (Velické Lake) and the mountain hotel Sliezsky Dom before finishing in Tatranská Polianka. We recommend setting off early in the morning and bringing plenty of food and water. This is a physically demanding hike suitable for experienced hikers with a good level of fitness.

Odporúčame vyraziť skoro ráno a pribaliť si dostatok jedla a vody. Túra je fyzicky náročná a vhodná pre skúsených turistov s dobrou kondíciou.

Kôprovský štít

koprovsky

Continue beyond Hincovo Pleso towards Vyšné Kôprovské Saddle before making the final ascent to the summit. The long climb is rewarded with some of the most spectacular panoramic views in the High Tatras.
